Love overcomes adversity.

Jesus said:-
44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

In knowing the love of God through the spirit of His son the Lord Jesus Christ, loving your enemies is not only possible, when practiced and understood at a deeper level, the benefits become very apparent.

To start with it is much easier to:-

  • love than to hate
  • love than to be jealous
  • love than to fear
  • love than to be angry
  • love rather than avenge yourself, (you need do nothing to seek revenge, God tells us to leave all that sort of stuff to Him. Romans 12:19 (King James Version)
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,
 Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Truly loving God through the spirit of Jesus Christ is reflected in the way we greet and treat other people.

This kind of love is not about possession or lasciviousness.

When our communications break down we pray for an opportunity to mend them again as soon as possible.

Love for mankind comes from a genuine desire within, that all people live in peace and love one another with the love of God. It is not a 'code' of politically correct behaviour which often leaves it's devotees in a state of confusion and can appear to be more akin to self-righteousness.   It is not, necessarily, being a close 'buddy'. It is not being 'imprisonned' in a situation where we cannot offer God and humanity our very best. Good manners make a real difference, good manners with a knowledge of and love for Jesus Christ, son of God is what really makes a difference and shows in our expressions and behaviour, especially in how we react to those whom we deem to be a threat to us.  With Jesus at our centre, love overcomes fear and adversity.
